Stupid Criminal: Robbery suspects
NBC 10 News
Published: November 4, 2009

NEW BEDFORD, Mass.— Two men tried to rob another man at gunpoint—right across the street from New Bedford District Court Tuesday.

The Standard Times reports the gunmen apparently chose their victim because they saw him counting money inside his car near Hill and Kempton streets.

The victim slammed his car into gear and drove into the court parking lot and avoided being robbed.  Police are using courthouse security camera video to try and identify the suspects.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — A woman didn’t have to look far to figure out who likely broke into her home and took a camera from her purse. Police said the burglar left behind his probation and parole card.

Ricky Dale Ford was jailed in September in Conway, Ark., accused of stealing an all-terrain vehicle. While joyriding, Ford had accidentally hit a beehive, and when police found him in nearby woods, he was “barely breathing,” one officer said, having been stung more than 100 times.

Doctor, wife accused of shoplifting just for kicks

Posted: Dec. 16, 2009 6:32 a.m.

When people are arrested for theft at Mayfair Mall, police often hear suspects complain of being out of work or having an addiction to drugs as reasons for their crimes.

But a doctor who makes more than $150,000 per year and his wife had a different excuse: they did it for the thrill of the sport.

According to Wauwatosa police:

The Milwaukee couple arrived at the mall on Saturday evening planning to shop for Christmas gifts. Instead, the 30-year-old wife suggested they take what they wanted. Because Macy’s was so busy with shoppers, she didn’t think they would be noticed.

They took turns serving as a lookout while the other took items – more than $1,500 worth – from just about every department in the store. They stuffed items in shopping bags from other stores, purses and the stroller carrying their two young children.

The 39-year-old husband likened the experience to “a game” in which the couple saw what they could get away with.

After they were arrested, the husband told officers he was a doctor who earns more than $150,000 per year and had more than enough money to pay for the items.
