We received an e-mail about Police and Physical Fitness. This is an excerpt:I been watching police show forever. I recently watched “rookie” on A&E and it really was a wake up call for me. I guess I never realized how dangerous a police line of work really is until I saw that show. I have now more admiration for the position. I personally have profound respect now more than ever for law enforcement. I as a citizen have become a lot more vigilant and I am learning this street defense called senshido. www.senshido.com This is about street smarts and getting home safe not just a physical but a lot of phsycological defense which many karate forms arts don’t show and are not practical in a city. I think learning safety in all forms is really important. Here is a question and I mean no offense by it but I wonder if it hinders officers ability to perform. I often see cops or police shows where the officer is somewhat overweight. Is that really safe? If officers who may have a harder time moving or may have health issues based on their weight? I just wonder because it is something I would worry about if I am counting on someone to back me up as an officer I hope that he his in tip top shape and ready to cover me. Is there a fitness level one must have, regardless of size that one has to maintain to stay on the force?
Anyway love the podcast gives me great tips to just get me to look out. A lot of respect and shout out form the Nations Capital.
